Sensible Team Welcomes Two New Faces

by
Sensible Staff
September 29, 2021

The picture shows a welcome sign to represent welcoming two new employees to the Sensible team.

There are two new members of the Sensible Financial team. Anne Smith and Aimée Plouffe started in May and August 2021, respectively. These new faces will bring their experience and backgrounds to Sensible, and the Sensible staff will share their considerable knowledge with them. It’s a win-win!

Anne Smith brings a wealth of HR experience to Sensible

Anne Smith

Anne Smith started with Sensible Financial in May of 2021. She is an experienced HR (Human Resources) generalist with a long record of managing HR teams. She is well-versed in benefits and compensation, corporate relocation (both national and international), insurance, disability, training, onboarding, and recruiting.

Anne began her HR career with MFS Investment Management performing multiple successive roles including Senior International Human Resources Generalist, Global Mobility and Immigration Manager. She also served as Acting Manager of Corporate Citizenship, which was an additional role she took on to act as liaison to several international engagement and charitable giving organizations within the company. Anne worked for MFS for a total of twenty-five years. Before working at MFS, Anne received a bachelor’s degree in English from Holy Cross.

Executive to librarian

Always a booklover, in 2001 Anne took a break from corporate life and went back to school. She earned a Master of Science in Library and Information Sciences from Simmons University and worked in both public and elementary school libraries. After seven years, Anne checked herself out of the library and returned to MFS Investment Management to serve as an international mobility and immigration generalist for the firm. She left the firm when COVID upended global travel and immigration.

In her past positions, Anne specialized in certain aspects of HR. At Sensible, however, she will be a multi-faceted HR professional, handling all the human resources needs for the financial advisor and operations teams.

Anne lives in the Boston area with her husband, where she likes to spend time outdoors, often in her garden. She recently completed a 1k charity swim to support veterans’ causes in New Hampshire. The couple and their two daughters enjoy hiking, biking, and swimming, especially at their family cottage in New Hampshire.

Aimée Plouffe loves helping people achieve their goals

Aimée Plouffe

Aimée Plouffe joined the Sensible team more recently. She is an Associate Financial Advisor who has her CFP® certification, but her career was originally headed in a different direction.

Aimée graduated from Southern New Hampshire University with a bachelor’s degree in hospitality and a minor in accounting. She worked as a supervising bank teller at first and then landed a hotel management position in Boston. Although she enjoyed the work, the 24/7 schedule was exhausting and she searched for a different path that would still allow her to indulge her love of numbers.

At her next position, in a financial planning firm, Aimée’s desire to learn impressed the staff. A senior advisor mentored her, encouraging her to learn more about the financial planning field. She did research and learned about creating financial plans. Soon, she was hooked. Aimée went to Bryant University, taking the classes that led to her earning her CERTIFIED FINANCIAL PLANNER™ credential.

While studying financial planning, Aimée found herself wondering how non-financial planners manage their savings themselves. “It’s so complex. How do people do this on their own?” That’s when she fell in love with the idea of helping people reach their financial and personal goals. “We had a client who was still working full-time well into his 70s. We made him a plan and it changed his life. He was able to slow down with confidence.”

A small firm is big with Aimée

Aimée is happy to have found Sensible Financial. “I never wanted to work at a big brokerage firm. Sensible is a great size. It’s big enough so I can work with different advisors, but small enough for me to spend time with senior staff and learn from them.”

Aimée is originally from Vermont. When she’s not back there visiting family and friends, she enjoys cooking, baking, hiking with her dog, Molly, and cheering on the Bruins.

Welcome to the Sensible team, Anne and Aimée!
