Benjamin (Benny) Mander graduated from Boston College with a BA in History and a background in helping people. During high school and college, Benny spent his summers as a camp counselor, and later, camp administrator, supervising more than one hundred children and staff members. His desire to help people led him to Beacon Pointe Advisors (“Beacon Pointe”).
“People may not think of financial planning as a helping career, but I do,” said Benny. “My parents have always had a close relationship with their financial advisor, and I could see that having a financial plan brought them peace and comfort.”
“I like the idea of being a part of a family’s success,” he said. “After talking with members of the Beacon Pointe team, I’m happy to say they do, too.”
Beacon Pointe’s philosophy played a large part in Benny’s choice. He also credits the close-knit team. “Everyone understands what the company is and there’s an intentional approach to both clients and employees. I like that Beacon Pointe looks at the whole client. They ask about their family, their goals, and their vision for the future. What’s great is they do that for employees, as well.
“During the interview process, I felt I made a connection. I could tell they were a close-knit team. Also, the people I met were multi-dimensional. Rick Fine is a photographer and Frank sings opera. And they’ve all stayed with Beacon Pointe for a long time.”
Right now, Benny is spending much of his time in the Waltham office “shadowing” his mentor in the firm, Laura Williams, and other financial advisors while he learns the ropes.
Originally from New York City, Benny now lives in the Boston area and enjoys interacting with the city in different ways than he did as a student. When he’s not working, he likes to play soccer and explore the city with friends.
