After spending several years in the volatile mortgage loan industry, Elizabeth (Liz) Killion is joining the Sensible Financial team as an operations associate. Liz has a bachelor’s degree in corporate studies from Boston College. Before starting at Sensible, Liz has a bachelor’s degree in corporate studies from Boston College. Before starting at Sensible, Liz worked in the mortgage loan department of a national realtor and both national and regional mortgage loan firms. She performed quality control during the post mortgage process, working internally, guiding clients, and helping first-time buyers secure loans.
“That was my favorite part of the job,” says Liz. “It was exciting helping families realize their dreams of home ownership. It was a rewarding experience.”
Working with the operations team
Right now, Liz is getting up to speed on the inner workings of Sensible. “It’s exciting,” she says. “I’ve been learning a lot from Chuck Luce and the whole operations team.”
After her experience in the mortgage loan industry, Liz wanted to work in a steadier environment. Since she’s always been interested in technology, and was looking for a more collegial atmosphere, operations at Sensible seemed like a great fit.
Side note: If you look up stable in a thesaurus, the word sensible pops up.
Liz has another passion. For years she’s been on the board of directors of SMOC (South Middlesex Opportunity Council). The non-profit organization helps people remain self-sufficient by providing short-term housing, fuel assistance, mental health services, addiction counseling, and community outreach.
Liz is all about stability these days. As the daughter of a U.S. Navy veteran, she moved a lot growing up. Now, she wants to stay in one place. She’s happily ensconced in the suburbs of Boston with her husband Dwane and her toddler Desmond. Liz’s parents and brother live nearby, too. Liz loves to read and is trying to read 15 fun books this year. That could be tough. She and Dwane recently bought a house and spend most of their off time watching Sesame Street and chasing Desmond around.
